Snort rule update for Jan. 28, 2021

This afternoon, Cisco Talos released the newest rule update for SNORTⓇ.

Thursday's release mainly provides coverage for multiple malware families. We have new and updated coverage for the Karangany malware family, which is known for targeting the energy sector, as well as the Nymaim downloader.

Here's a breakdown of today's rule release:

There were no changes made to the snort.conf in this release.

Talos' rule release:

Talos has added and modified multiple rules in the browser-webkit, exploit-kit, malware-cnc, malware-other and server-webapp rule sets to provide coverage for emerging threats from these technologies.
