Open Source Community Webinar Recording and Slides posted
Today we held an Open Source Community Webinar on line, and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank the people in attendance. I know the announcement was short notice, but we received positive engagement from the community with several questions during the webinar, and several after.
I've posted the recording and the slides on our Snort Webinar Series page on Snort.org.
Please feel free to check it out and if you have any questions about the Webinar or anything I said in it, please feel free to reach out to me.

Nick Moore's Webcast Slides are posted
This past week's webcast was not recorded, however, I have posted the slides for the presentation, and they are available at the Snort Webcast Series Link.
I am going to try and get future webcasts recorded for easy playback, sorry for any inconvenience.
Nick's webcast was on the basics of Snort tuning, a "101" class. Nick talks about the importance of variables, rule tuning, and lots of other goodies.

Snort webcast
We didn't forget about the June webcast!
Things were a little crazy in the month of June and with the schedules the way they were, it was just hard to find a time when the presenter and I could sync up to deliver the webcast.
We'll make up for it in July!
Thanks for your patience, however, in the meantime, you can check out our repository of webcasts at http://www.snort.org/webcast_series.
Thanks.

Slides from John Gay's webcast posted
As we always strive to do after a webcast, we put up the slides for John Gay's webcast on Multiconfig Snort operation over at: http://www.snort.org/webcast_series. Unfortunately, the webcast did not get recorded this time due to a technical error, so only the slides are available.
Please keep your eyes on the blog for further information regarding next month's webcast with Nick Moore again, in mid June!

First 2011 Snort Webcast Registration is Open!
Just wanted to announce that Registration for the first 2011 Snort Webcast is now open at the following link:
https://sourcefire.webex.com/sourcefire/onstage/g.php?t=a&d=793571014
Our Presenter is Nick Moore of Sourcefire and he'll be presenting the first of a two part series on simply getting started with Snort. How to set it up, running, and working with traffic.
When you click on the above link, you will see a "Register" link on the left-hand side of the page. Click that for pre-registration.
What does pre-registration get you? Reminders. You'll receive a reminder the 11th (Monday) and an hour before we begin so you'll be sure to remember to attend.
The registration form only asks for a couple things so we can remind you about the event. Registering for the event does not mean that you will start to receive sales information, we're simply using the information for numbers (how many registered, how many attended) information.
Topic: Snort Webinar Training
Date and Time:
April 13, 2011 11:00 am, Eastern Daylight Time (New York, GMT-04:00)
Event number: 793 571 014
Thanks!

Snort Webcast series progress
I meant to post this last week, but just wanted to keep our community up to date with everything going on, with last weeks announcement that we were going to be reinvigorating the Snort webcast series, I thought it would be neat to let you all know that I have a webcast planned for every month for the rest of the year!
Our first webcast will be by Nick Moore of Sourcefire, on April 13, 2011 (Wednesday) at 11:00 am. We'll start with the basics, how to set up Snort.
I'll post a reminder that Monday as well. But just in case you want to block our your calendars now, feel free to do so.
If you have suggestions for webcasts you'd like to see, either from Snort.org or from the community itself, please feel free to suggest them!

Snort Webcast Series is back
When I took over the OpenSource Community Manager position here at Sourcefire, I sent out an email asking for suggestions about what I can do to make things better and provide an awesome community for the OpenSource products.
One of the things that was emailed to me was "Can you put the Snort Webcast Series back up?" and "Start the webinar series back up!". So, I did, and we will.
You can find the old series that Mike Guiterman (thanks Mike!) was coordinating back in 2009, re-released and put up on Snort.org. It's always been available, but over on Sourcefire.com where you had to register to view the content. This is one of the other complaints I received, that people had to surrender their email to the website in order to gain access to this valuable information.
So I removed that restriction as well.
So, announcing without further ado, the old series is back up, and we're going to be reviving the series soon (probably once a month or so), and putting that information up for consumption as well. As always I'll post a blog entry when we are going to schedule a webcast, so you may participate live and ask questions of the speakers, and I'll post a blog entry when we put it up on the website for archiving.
You can find the Snort webcast series here, at it's new home, on Snort.org.
